It’s been called the precursor to the Holocaust, and the « forgotten genocide ». The massacre of the Herero and Nama people at the hands of colonialists in German South West Africa – know known as Namibia – is considered the first genocide of the 20th Century. Descendants of the genocide are seeking reparations from Germany through the US legal system. Jessica Le Masurier explains how the case ended up in a New York court.
