Democratic Republic of the Congo has announced the creation of a paramilitary force to secure its mining sector, backed by funding from the United States and United Arab Emirates. The unit, expected to grow to over 20,000 personnel by 2028, aims to protect operations, strengthen state control and reassure investors as global competition for critical minerals intensifies. FRANCE 24’s Emmet Livingstone has the details from Kinshasa.
