Sierra Leone attacks were a failed coup attempt, government says

Sierra Leone is now treating Sunday’s clashes that killed 21 people in the capital Freetown as a failed coup attempt. 13 military officers and one civilian are under arrest. Meanwhile, 11 miners lost their lives in South Africa when an elevator carrying 86 workers plunged 200 metres in a platinum mine. Finally severe flooding caused by the El Nino weather phenomenon has killed 120 people in Kenya, while people in almost 90,000 households have been forced toleave their homes.
